eSIM Cards
Finding the fastest travel eSIM is harder than it sounds. Most providers claim ultra-fast speeds, but those claims often come from marketing pages rather than real-world testing.

At MyRoami, we wanted to see how travel eSIMs actually perform when used the way travelers use them: navigating cities, sending messages, streaming videos, and working remotely.
To do that, we ran 30+ real speed tests across 5 countries and 4 continents, testing ten major travel eSIM providers in the following locations:
Each provider was purchased directly from the official website, activated on real smartphones, and tested using Speedtest by Ookla in fixed urban locations. The eSIMs that we tested are:
After analyzing download speed, upload speed, and latency across all four countries, one provider stood out for its consistent performance.

After aggregating the results from all four countries, three providers consistently delivered the strongest performance.
Nomad delivered the highest overall average in our test, making it the fastest eSIM overall across the five countries analyzed. It stood out with exceptionally strong results in both Egypt and Germany, and it remained competitive in Spain, Chile, and the USA.
Key results:
What pushed Nomad into first place was its ability to set record speeds in two major test markets while still maintaining solid results elsewhere. It was not the most balanced provider in every single country, but its peak performance in key regions gave it the highest overall average.
For travelers heading to Europe, North Africa, or moving across multiple regions, Nomad now ranks as the fastest eSIM of the dataset.
Holafly ranked second overall thanks to its balanced performance across all five countries. While it did not top the chart in any single location, it consistently recorded strong download speeds and avoided the kind of regional drop-offs that hurt several other providers.
Key results:
What made Holafly stand out was its reliability across very different markets. Rather than relying on one standout win, it stayed close to the top in every region we measured. That consistency was enough to push it into second place globally.
For travelers who want a dependable provider across multiple destinations, Holafly proved to be one of the safest top-tier choices in the test.
Airalo finished third overall, just behind Holafly, with especially strong results in the USA and solid speeds across the rest of the dataset. The difference between Airalo, Holafly, and Roamless was very small, making this one of the closest parts of the ranking.
Key results:
Airalo’s strongest showing came in the USA, where it recorded one of the best speeds in the entire test. Combined with good performance in Spain, Germany, Egypt, and Chile, that gave it enough to narrowly secure third place overall.
For travelers who value strong performance in North America while still getting reliable speeds elsewhere, Airalo remains one of the best global options.
The table below summarizes the download speeds recorded across all 5 countries. This provides a clear overview of how each provider performed globally.

In Santiago, Instabridge recorded the fastest download speed among all providers, reaching 131 Mbps. Roamless finished a close second with 128 Mbps while delivering strong streaming performance and stable connectivity throughout the test. Holafly secured third place. Several other providers delivered solid results as well, but the top three stood out for their combination of speed and overall user experience.

Spain delivered the fastest speeds observed during our study. BNESIM recorded the highest individual speed of the entire test, reaching 162 Mbps in Madrid. Ubigi followed closely behind with 160 Mbps, demonstrating similarly strong performance on the Vodafone network.
GoMoWorld secured third place with 148 Mbps and performed well during everyday tasks such as browsing, streaming, and messaging. Overall, Spain showed the strongest infrastructure and the highest speeds among all the countries tested.
Note: The fastest eSIM in Spain was determined by testing all the providers on iPhone 11 in Madrid on March 8, 2026.
Any eSIM above 25 Mbps should feel smooth for everyday travel use, with no major hiccups for maps, messaging, video streaming, or routine remote work.
At MyRoami, we test connectivity products the same way travelers use them. We do not rely on provider claims or marketing materials. Instead, we:
All testing is conducted using real devices and real networks in fixed locations to ensure consistent comparisons.
Our rankings are based entirely on measured performance, not sponsorships or paid placements.
Egypt produced one of the strongest results in the study, with Nomad delivering a download speed of 152 Mbps in Cairo. Saily followed with a strong 102 Mbps result, demonstrating solid performance in the region. Roamless secured third place with speeds close to 100 Mbps while maintaining stable connectivity throughout the tests. Most providers delivered respectable speeds in Egypt, though Jetpac lagged far behind the rest of the field.
Note: The fastest eSIM in Egypt was determined by testing all the providers on iPhone 13 in Cairo on March 13, 2026.
In the United States, Airalo delivered the fastest result among all providers, reaching 121.6 Mbps in our tests. BNESIM followed closely with 113.4 Mbps, while Holafly secured third place with 107.9 Mbps, rounding out a tightly grouped top tier of high-performing eSIMs.
Overall, performance across the U.S. was strong and relatively consistent, with most providers delivering speeds well above 80 Mbps. Latency remained stable across the board, making all top providers suitable for everyday use such as navigation, video streaming, and remote work.
Note: The fastest eSIM in the USA was determined by testing all the providers on iPhone 15 Pro in Los Angeles on April 10, 2026.
Germany delivered some of the fastest speeds in our testing, with Nomad leading the pack at 146.9 Mbps. Holafly followed with 108.2 Mbps, while Roamless took third place at 103.5 Mbps.
Most providers performed reliably, with solid speeds and consistent latency throughout the tests, making Germany one of the stronger markets overall.
Note: The fastest eSIM in Germany was determined by testing all the providers on iPhone 16 in Dortmund on April 10, 2026.
Comparing raw speeds between countries can be misleading because mobile network infrastructure varies widely between regions.
To ensure fair comparisons, we evaluated providers based on:
Each provider was ranked within each country, and we then aggregated results across all four locations.
This approach rewards providers that deliver:
The provider with the highest combined performance across Spain, Chile, Egypt, Germany, and the United States earned the title of MyRoami’s Fastest eSIM.
Our testing locations were intentionally chosen to represent five different mobile network environments across four continents.
Spain has one of the most developed telecom infrastructures in Europe, with widespread 5G coverage and strong network performance.
Chile is one of the most advanced telecom markets in South America and provides a good benchmark for Latin American connectivity.
Egypt represents a fast-growing African mobile market where roaming performance and network routing can vary significantly between providers.
Germany offers a different European network environment, where performance can vary more between operators despite strong overall infrastructure.
The USA is one of the most competitive telecom markets globally, with multiple major carriers and wide variation in performance depending on network partnerships.
Testing across these five locations allows us to evaluate eSIM providers under very different real-world conditions, giving travelers a clearer picture of global performance.
Speed is important, but it isn’t the only factor that determines the best travel eSIM.
When choosing an eSIM for your trip, you should also consider:
In practice, the fastest eSIM is not always the best option if the connection is unstable or coverage is limited.
For many travelers, a slightly slower but more reliable connection can provide a better overall experience when navigating, messaging, and working remotely.
Our team conducts real tests, making sure that these eSIMs work when you actually need it; when conducting remote work or navigating new cities. That is why we tested multiple eSIMs in multiple locations.
The table below shows in which conditions we ran the tests, per location.
