Airbnb announced boutique hotels, car rentals, and new services to transform its app into an “all-in-one” platform ahead of summer and the FIFA World Cup 2026. We share cybersecurity recommendations to help you travel more connected and protected.

During our hands-on tests, Holafly excelled across the board - a fast, reliable connection that handled video calls and streaming even in remote areas, easy setup in under five minutes, and real-person support (not just AI) that's ultra-fast and knowledgeable. Holafly is a simple, reliable, well-supported eSIM - the one we'd recommend for travellers in 2026.
Airbnb announced one of its biggest updates in recent years ahead of summer 2026. The platform will incorporate boutique hotels, car rentals, grocery delivery, and new artificial intelligence features so travelers can organize practically their entire trip from the app. It will also include exclusive experiences for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
With more digital services concentrated in a single application, we recommend taking some basic precautions to protect personal data and avoid problems during your travels, including getting an eSIM.
Airbnb’s new strategy aims to go far beyond accommodations. Among the announced updates are grocery delivery services, airport transportation, car rentals, and reservations at boutique and independent hotels.
According to the company, the goal is for users to manage their entire trip from a single platform. “Travel should not only be comfortable: it should be an enriching experience. A great trip gives us the opportunity to explore, learn, and return home with a different perspective. This is what we are creating at Airbnb. And this summer we are going to offer even more ways to have a complete travel experience,” explained Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, in an article published by the company.
Airbnb confirmed it will add thousands of boutique hotels in different tourist cities and World Cup host destinations. The idea is to expand the options for travelers looking for more personalized experiences that differ from traditional hotels. The new services announced by the platform are:
Users will be able to find this type of accommodation in 20 destinations worldwide, including New York, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, and Singapore (with more cities to be added later).
Travelers will be able to receive groceries at their accommodation before arriving or order them during their stay. The service will be available in more than 25 cities in the United States through a partnership with the distribution company Instacart.
Airbnb travelers will be able to book private transportation to and from their accommodation through Welcome Pickups. Drivers will monitor travelers’ flight information and wait for them upon landing.
Travelers will be able to store luggage before check-in or after check-out thanks to a partnership with Bounce. Users will be able to check in the app which storage points are closest and how far they are from the accommodation.
Starting this summer, users will be able to reserve rental cars directly from the Airbnb app, which will display vehicles available near the accommodation and suggest the best option for the group’s needs.
The platform also introduced AI-powered features to summarize reviews, recommend accommodations, and assist users during trip planning. In addition, there will be football-related experiences and exclusive activities organized with sports figures and local hosts during the 2026 World Cup.

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account and helps prevent unauthorized access.
Open networks in airports, cafés, and hotels can be vulnerable. Whenever possible, get an eSIM so you stay connected from the moment you land.
eSIMs allow you to connect to local mobile networks without changing your phone’s physical SIM card. Services like Holafly, Airalo, or Nomad have become very popular among international travelers.
Review recent comments, photos, and the age of the listing to feel more confident before confirming a reservation.
Updating Airbnb and your phone’s operating system helps ensure you have the latest security patches available.
