6 leaked iPhone 18 Pro features: two could change everything

A more immersive display, no SIM card slot in Europe, and bigger batteries. Early leaks about Apple’s new phone lineup point to a set of improvements that, together, could raise the bar considerably.

Yes, we’ve been hearing rumors for months about possible new features coming to the next iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. But in recent days, new details have emerged about Apple’s upcoming phones, which are expected to launch in September 2026.

According to Applesfera, the well-known leaker Majin Bu has provided visual evidence: two photos that allegedly show the front of the iPhone 18 Pro. Combined with other rumors - such as the possibility that the model could be eSIM-only in Europe - these leaks are starting to paint a clearer picture of what the next iPhones could look like.

Although the photo is not the best quality, observers and Apple fans are already drawing their first conclusions:

1. A smaller Dynamic Island and a new design

One of the most noticeable possible changes is the apparent reduction in the size of the Dynamic Island. Since its debut in 2022 with the iPhone 14 Pro, this element has remained largely unchanged. However, the leaked images suggest that its size could be reduced by approximately 25%.

This change would not be just about aesthetics. It could also make the screen experience more immersive.

Two other new features visible in the leaks are:

  • A more unified look on the back.
  • New color options.

According to the leaks, Apple is planning to better match the colors of the aluminum and glass to create a more uniform look on the back. This would be a change from the two-tone finish of the iPhone 17 Pro.

As for the colors, Origitec, a store specializing in Apple products in Peru, leaked four possible options: black, cherry, light blue, and silver.

2. No SIM card slot in Europe

The second major change that could mark a turning point for the iPhone 18 Pro is the possible complete removal of the SIM card slot.

According to TechManiacs, the future iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could arrive without a physical SIM card, relying exclusively on eSIM technology. The reason? To free up internal space for higher-capacity batteries.

What’s new is that this move would no longer apply only to selected markets. Rumors suggest that Europe could also join this transition, with models arriving without a SIM tray. Until now, Apple had already sold the iPhone 17 without a physical SIM in countries such as the United States, Japan, and Canada, but this decision could be expanded.

What are the advantages of eSIMs?

  • Activation without a physical card and without visiting a store.
  • The possibility of using multiple lines on the same device.
  • More convenience when traveling, with carrier switching in seconds.
  • Greater security, because there is no need to physically remove the SIM.

3. Camera with variable aperture

The camera could also play a major role in the new iPhone 18 lineup, as the 48 MP sensor is expected to feature a variable aperture. This would allow users to manually adjust how much light enters the sensor, similar to the diaphragm in a DSLR camera.

The result? The ability to control exposure, blur, and depth of field much more precisely.

The telephoto lens is also expected to be improved, with a wider aperture that promises better low-light performance and more detail when zooming.

4. A20 Pro chip: better performance

The A20 Pro is expected to be Apple’s first chip manufactured using a 2-nanometer process. According to the leaks, Apple would also use WMCM packaging, a technology that allows multiple chip components to be integrated at wafer level.

With 2 nanometers, transistor density increases, which means better performance and greater energy efficiency.

In addition, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to get more RAM, designed to improve the performance of artificial intelligence features, possibly also in connection with deeper integration of Google Gemini within Apple Intelligence.

5. Finally, bigger batteries

Another expected upgrade concerns the battery in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The batteries are expected to be larger than those in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, making them the biggest yet in this lineup.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumored to have a 5100 to 5200 mAh battery. For this reason, everything indicates that the iPhone 18 lineup will be thicker and heavier than its predecessors.

6. Apple may not pass the extra cost on to users

Good news for buyers: although manufacturing with 2 nm technology is more expensive, Apple is rumored not to be planning to pass that extra cost on to users. The idea would be to absorb it internally in order to maintain its position in the market.

If prices follow the iPhone 17 lineup, the estimates in euros would be as follows:

  • iPhone 18 Pro: from €1,319.
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: from €1,469.

Although, as always, this will depend on the country where you buy it and the exchange rate.
